Dr. Tan Chong Koay is an investment veteran with over 46 years of experience in the fund management industry. He is the founder of the Pheim group of fund management and unit trust management companies. Over the years, funds under Dr. Tan Chong Koay’s management or supervision have achieved an excellent long-term performance track record and ranked top on various occasions. Dr. Tan has received various awards on account of his fund performance and in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievement. Dr. Tan has been named the “Warren Buffet of Asia”.
Dr Tan Chong Koay is a strong believer in value investing and applies his investment philosophy of “Not Fully Invest At All Times”. He seeks to reduce equity exposures when the market is judged to be near its peak, and to increase equity exposures when the market is assessed to be near its bottom. His approach to investment has enabled him to weather major market crashes and achieve excellent long-term record of performance. In 2023, among the funds managed by Dr Tan, Pheim SICAV-SIF – ASEAN Emerging Companies Fund was conferred the “Best of the Best Performance Awards 2022” for 20-year period ended September 2022 in the ASEAN Equity Category by Asia Asset Management. This fund had recorded a 413.89% of return for the 20-year period.
